Welcome to Schnauzers Vic
Previously we were Schnauzers WA and have now relocated to Victoria! Our love and committment to the breed hasn’t altered, and we are all excited to see what Victoria brings.
Having a standard schnauzer in Australia is special; they are less common than the popular miniature schnauzer and have a unique set of characteristics that we love and form the core of our passion for the breed. This website is for our community and is here for the sharing of helpful information and pics of our amazing dogs.
If you’re looking for a pup, you’ve come to the right place. To find out more, read Getting a Schnauzer Pup.
If you’re here to learn more about standard schnauzers, this is the best of my research and experience with my own and other people’s schnauzers. Look through the menu headings for general care, training etc for a topic. If you don’t find what you are looking for, you can send me an email on the Contact and I’ll do my best to help.
Why choose our Standard Schnauzers?
Our standard schnauzers are of the highest pedigree; your purebred pup comes with a pedigree certified by the internationally recognised Dogs Australia (previously/ alternatively known as the ANKC – Australian National Kennel Council) and is a guarantee that your pup comes from a 500 year line of purebred schnauzers. Additionally we intermittently enter our schnauzers into dog shows with interstate and international judges to ensure our dogs continue to remain true to conformation standards for the breed. (Many people don’t understand that breeders registered with other organisations that are not members of Dogs Australia are not able to enter conformation shows hence have no way of ensuring their dogs remain true to type both in conformation and temperament. The term “registered breeder” has become confusing in recent years!)
Standard schnauzers are also considered a hypoallergenic breed. If you’re a dog lover who suffers from allergies, standard schnauzers are an ideal candidate for those who need a low dander, low shedding, and low slobber option. These are the three factors that help to determine if a dog is truly a good fit for people who are allergic to dogs.
I’m a Dogs Victoria registered breeder of standard schnauzers (which is the Victorian arm of Dogs Australia) and have 25 years experience with owning, loving, training and showing the breed. More can be found about me and my dogs on the About page.
